Be Ready for the Boom
The boom is coming, are you paying attention? How prepared are you?
Have you taken SDOC, made repairs, strengthened your rigging and re-shaped your sails for peak
performance? If you are the skipper, have you improved your ability to lead your crew in uncharted waters?
When we are sailing along care-free, running with the wind and there is a sudden wind shift or a rogue wave, we need to be paying attention! There can be life-threatening consequences when we are complacent or not being mindful as we sail on into the future. (a photo I've kept to myself until now, bears witness to this key lesson learnt the hard way)
Sailors need to be ready for unexpected storms no matter how good the current forecast might be. Skippers need to know how to reef their sails when the winds become too strong for ‘light-wind settings’. They need to be aware of safe harbours they can retreat to during a storm where they may need to baton down the hatches and wait for the sun to come out. During their time of retreat, wise boat crews will rest, make repairs and replenish supplies for continuing their journey when the time is right. How prepared is your skipper and crew for the coming boom? Read more at Wayne's Blog

Emerging from the Wilderness
In an article written by James Purtill, he explains what many of us will experience as a Reverse Culture Shock after being isolated and remerging into public spaces, particularly at work. Those who adventure to remote places such as Antarctica, take several months to re-intergrate into 'normal society'. Recently there have been encouraging signs that the worst of the pandemic has passed in Australia. But the promised easing of restrictions bring fresh anxieties.

Social Isolation as a Mindfulness Retreat
By Gayle Van Gils - mindfulness teacher and meditation practitioner
Author of Happier at Work: The Power of Love to Transform the Workplace.
“Raw, vulnerable, ungrounded, and exposed” – these are feelings I have been having since working alone in social isolation. In coaching conversations with clients and masterclasses with colleagues, I have been hearing these same words over and over. They made me reflect on the interesting fact that these feelings are so similar to the condition that I find myself in several days into an immersive meditation retreat.
Gayle Van Gils has spent many weeks and months in silent retreat. As the founder of Transform Your Culture, Gayle brings the teachings of Emotional Intelligence, compassion and values alignment to leaders and entrepreneurs wishing to uplift and energize their business's culture. Gayle is a certified Search Inside Yourself instructor, a meta-coach for the Goleman EI organization, a popular meditation teacher on the app Simple Habit.
